It has been quite some time since Samsung launched their first tablet. The original Samsung Galaxy Tab was made official in September of 2010. The device seemingly sparked the Galaxy name and did not mention “7” in title.  Since the launch of this game changing tablet Samsung is now on their second generation Galaxies. We have seen the Galaxy Tab 10.1,and 8.9 with a scattered array of connected variations. Today Samsung has unveiled their next tablet option and it seems to be a very bland refresh to the original Galaxy Tab. World, meet the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.

Samsung is on a war path in the tablet market, seemingly giving users as many size and quality options as possible. Today the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 has been made official. The Galaxy Tab 2 is the company’s first Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich tablet and has a few things in common with its predecessor. Screen size, resolution, camera quality and battery size are just a few traits that have crossed over from the early days to the Galaxy Tab 2. Internally however the Galaxy Tab 2 has had a slight overhaul. The single core processor from the original has been bumped to a dual core chip set that is clocked at 1 GHz. The tablet also comes equipped with 1 GB of RAM, up to 32 GB of internal storing as well as expandable microSD memory capacity. It also comes ready to go with a 3 mega pixel camera, that is capable of recording video in 720p HD. Around front a VGA quality .3 mega pixel camera is present for all your video conferencing needs. The 7 inch touch screen uses a WSVGA PLS TFT display that gives it a 600×1024 pixel resolution. Other details on this excellent new slate include the standards, such as Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b, g, n, Wi-Fi Direct (not so standard), a 3.5mm headset connection and the ever so familiar proprietary charging connection. Unfortunately that is about all there is to be said about this new slate. Samsung has confirmed however, that the slate will go on sale in the UK begging next month, but neglected to mention a price tag. Check out the video below of the keynote surrounding Samsung’s new announcement. And get ready for some HUB’s with TouchWiz. Additionally this new slate measures in at a thin 10.5 mm and weighs in at only 12.13 ounces.
